Student Presentations: Data Visualizations of Micro Networks

OWS - I will meet with each of you to approve your bullet points and stop motion storyboard proposals. You will then, either in class or outside, make a stop motion video (5-10) seconds using a digital STILL camera and video editing application (Final Cut or Premiere) to show your product/service in action.

How To - Premiere/Final Cut Pro/After Effects Demo of Stop Motion animation:

PHOTOSHOP/PREMIERE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Create a .psd with all stills and modify as needed.


2. File>Scripts>ExportLayersToFiles
In the dialogue box, browse to the folder where you want to save stills. Set a prefix name and file type (jpg) and jpeg options (12). Then choose RUN.


3. Launch Adobe Premiere


4. New Project


5. File Import - Import Stills


6. Premier Pro>Preferences>General>Still Image Default Duration>1-4 frames


7. Drag all stills to Video 01


8. File>Export>QuicktimeNTSC DV


About the Premier Interface:
The Source Monitor plays back individual clips. In the Source Monitor, you prepare clips that you want to add to a sequence. You set In points and Out points, and specify the clip’s source tracks (audio or video). You can also insert clip markers and add clips to a sequence in a Timeline panel.
The Program Monitor plays back the sequence of clips that you are assembling. It’s your view of the active sequence in a Timeline panel. You can set sequence markers and specify sequence In points and Out points. Sequence In points and Out points define where frames are added or removed from the sequence.
Each monitor contains both a time ruler and controls to play back and cue the current frame of a source clip or sequence. Each monitor also contains an Export Frame button for creating a still from a single frame of video.

FINAL CUT INSTRUCTIONS
1. Launch Final Cut.


2. Right click on 'Sequence 1' on the Browser windows. choose 'settings..'>Frame Size 640x480.


3. File>User Preferences, choose the Editing tab


4. In the Still/Freeze Duration field type: 00:00:00:04


5. File > Import > Folder. choose the folder where you save all the photos you took. You will need about 50 photos for a 5 second video.


6. Select all images and drag them to the video channel.


8. When you set all the photos in video channel, choose from menu: Sequence > Render All > Video


9. File > Save Project


0. File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion
Done!


AFTER EFFECTS INSTRUCTIONS
1. Launch AfterEffects


2. File>Import>File


3. After Effects>Preferences>Import>Still Footage 0:00:01:00


3. Select all images & drag images to timeline.


4. New Composition from Selection dialogue box pops up. Create Sincle Comp, use dimension from any image, still duration 0:00:04:00


5. Composition>Composition Settings - Pixel Aspect Ratio: 640 x 480 Square Pixels


6. Composition>Make Movie - See Render Queue Window. Output to: "File Name" Render Setting and Ouput Module
